FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Our group of volunteers was formed in 1997 as a response to government funding cuts to the local library system. We wanted to make the community aware of the libraries and their services, to support the Library Board, and to act as a fundraiser for money to be spent on library materials and programs. Our meetings are held during the second week of each month (daytime in the winter, evenings in the spring and fall) in the Board Room of the Ramara Centre. We continue to proudly support the Library financially and with volunteer hours. Many Library material acquisitions, furnishings, technological updates and programmes would not be possible without our help. If you would like to be involved with an organization that gives you scope and support for your great ideas, why not join us? The tangible benefits of membership include discounts on our merchandise, a regular newsletter to keep you up to date and, thanks to our charitable status from Revenue Canada, a tax receipt for all donations, including membership fees. The opportunities for personal growth and friendships are available to all. We hope that you will join our group of dedicated volunteers and share your time and abilities with us for the betterment of our libraries. Come to one of our meetings! Purchase a membership! Make our Friends your friends! If you would like to become a member of the Friends of the Library, please call Membership Chairperson, Claudia Pickering @ 484-1233. HELP YOUR LIBRARY, SO YOUR LIBRARY CAN HELP YOU!!
